Quick Update - 9/14/10

Caroline had a good day today! Very minimal "de-stats" and she always self corrected. I held her for 2 hours and she insisted that I rock back and forth for the first hour. The picture above is of me holding her today. Her nurse handed her to me when the First Memories Texas came by to take pictures. She was not comfortable yet and was pretty feisty throughout her whole picture shoot.

I feel very certain that we will have a sound sleeper that may even be able to sleep through Charlie barking. Two of Caroline's neighbors were having a competition to see who could cry louder. I think it was a tie.

Ryan has mentioned before how much we love everyone that has taken care of us. Today the milk bank celebrated me and I am now a member of "Club 100." I am not sure what the Club 100 means but they were congratulating me on my work "pumping" for Caroline. As silly as it was it really made me smile. (I am guessing it may mean 100 ounces)

In thinking back to yesterday, I realized every time I looked at Caroline, her CPAP was out of her nose. We learned early on that Caroline is very "prong dependent" meaning that she needs the prongs in her nose to get the benefit of CPAP. I felt very certain that the prongs being out of her nose was the reason she stopped breathing yesterday. After talking with her doctors this morning they agree with me. They believe that she was just worn out and exhausted from working so hard to breathe all day. Needless to say, I am going to be pretty adamant that her nurse or respiratory therapist get the prongs in correctly.

  1. Good update!!! Caroline WILL be such a good sleeper --- Quinn totally ignores Ryan when he starts crying & she's asleep. She'll even stay asleep if I turn on the lights. Definite positives of having a NICU stay :)

  2. That's probably the one piece of equipment that doesn't make an annoying beep at the nurses' station when it falls off a patient. Hope they can get it to stick!
