Laryngomalacia

It looks like Caroline has Laryngomalacia.  If anyone can help me pronounce this word, let me know.  What is it?  Basically, her larynx is immature and is causing an obstruction in her airway.  Most of the time, babies grow out of the condition.  However, sometimes it requires surgery.  They are going to reevaluate her in 2 to 4 weeks.  In the meantime, she will have to wear the CPAP to keep her airway open.

Caroline also had an eye check up today and everything went well and that they seem to be maturing correctly.  They had to dilate her eyes and she hated it.  They will do this test weekly.  It is standard for any baby under a certain weight.

  3. Is this baby smart or what? You mentioned her preference was to be on her tummy or side. After reading about the condition, that is the prefered position for these babies. She was telling us something i think! Sorry for another hurdle, but she is managing to fight thru them all. Bless her sweet baby heart...love and prayers.......

  4. Yes, that are putting her on her side and stomach. She actually prefers to lay on her right side. She struggles the most when she is flat on her back.
