Caroline had another good day. I learned more about her doctors’ plans for the breathing tube. They are watching her and hoping this will give her a good break. They are also watching the machine to see if it’s registering a "leak" in her airway. When they intubated her, they had a hard time because her airway is already so small and it was swollen. They believe some of the swelling is going down since the leak is registering. As she improves, the pressure from the breathing tube will be turned down. They hope to extubate her in a week or two. When they extubate her, they will probably do it in the OR with the ENT. That way they will have all the right tools if she is unable to breathe on her own and they need to intubate her again. Depending on how she does, she may go back on CPAP.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, emails, calls, letters etc. We are so very grateful to have such wonderful family and friends. Please continue to keep our little girl in your prayers. We ask that you pray specifically for her airway to grow and for the swelling to continue decreasing.
Just said "night night" to our little cousin! Love her and looking forward to seeing her one day! xxoo
