DLB Procedure

Caroline will have a DLB procedure tomorrow at Noon.  Basically, they put a scope down her throat to look at her airway.  The actual procedure only takes 15 minutes or so, but she will have to be under anesthesia, so that is always concerning to me.  Her airway is still very small.  In fact, her breathing tube is a 2.5.  The only tube that is smaller is a 2.0 and they do not even have that readily available in the NICU - they are only in the operating room.  The doctors have now placed the smaller tube at her bedside in case of emergency.  The scope will take some pictures of her airway (will be great for the baby book) and they will have a little better idea of how to treat Caroline.  They expect to find more obstructions deeper in her airway.  Katie and I would appreciate your prayers for a successful procedure and answers to questions.

We had a fun weekend.  My Mom and Step Dad were in town.  They had not seen Caroline for 6 weeks.  She put on a show for us...  She was really awake and aware several times.  She was awake some while Katie was holding her and it was fun to see her outside of her bed and talk to her some.

As I said in my last post, she is now 3 pounds, 6 ounces.  She is also 15.25 inches in length.  Her head grew again, as well.  They turned off the heat in her bed and she was regulating her own temperature today.  Her sweet nurse gave her some premie outfits and she will get to wear them soon.

We also got her bedding this weekend.  The crib is ready.  I started putting things we do not need in the attic, including a trunk full of my things that my Mom had saved for me.  I actually found my baby book and looked through it some.  It was kind of fun.

Here is a great video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuq8JWdV6ZI (Video is still uploading.  Should work soon)

  2. I know i am her gigi but u have heard the expression "she's a living doll". Well, that pretty much sums it up! What a treat to see how much she has grown and developed...thank you God! I also noted that she is the most popular baby in NICU! When she conquers this airway snag, she'll be out of there in no time. Many thoughts and prayers for a good tomorrow. We also enjoyed meeting your good friends,Megan and Matthew-at the wine festival. Missing my sweet girl already. Love you all 3...gigi
