Caroline had a great Friday. She weighs about 5 pounds, 6 ounces, but I expect she will weigh a little less when they put her on the scale tonight. I don't really want to explain that any further...
She is getting better and better with her feedings. Occupational Therapy has been working with her to bottle feed. She usually takes about 1/4 of her food from the bottle. However, they let Katie bottle feed her today and she took 3/4 of her food. Pretty neat that she knows her Mom and is more comfortable with her. Katie is going to bottle feed her tomorrow and I am going to try on Sunday.
Speaking of food. The doctors cut her food back a little bit, but have added a type of formula to the milk that is very high in calories. They believe that she was getting a little too much volume and it was making it a little hard on her lungs.
Caroline has definitely found her lungs. It is still a sweet little cry, but she can now cry without dipping in her oxygen levels. She was a little grumpy tonight when I held her, but I will take anything I can get.
She has pulled out her feeding tube the last couple of days. It is taped down to her face, but she got it off. She did the same thing with her breathing tube on the day they extubated her. She is trying to tell us that she is ready, but there is still a little work to do.
We noticed a swing next to her bed yesterday. They put her in her swing a few times a day and she loves it. Here are some pictures and a video:

I think she is thinking this old world is not as bad as i thought! Wonderful update on so many levels....praise and thanks to God.
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan...where is her texas rangers shirt??
I suspect she is dreaming up mischief. She's checking out what's going on in the bed beside her.
